What Do I Do After My Hemorrhoid Pops?

Question by Robbie: What do I do after my hemorrhoid pops?
I had an external hemorrhoid show up this morning after I went #2. It had been bothering me a little bit for the past couple of days, but nothing really noticeable. However, this morning and during the day it was very painful, so I was basically bed ridden for the rest of the day. I decided to get up and go to the store and get some Preparation H. Before use, I cleaned the area where I was going to apply the cream, and while I was doing this, I noticed I was bleeding and it was very slimy. I washed it out with water and applied the preparation H afterwards. There is a still a little soreness, but most of the pain has gone. What should I do now? Should I not workout at the gym for a couple of days?

Natural Hemorrhoid Treatment at Home

Avoiding a hemorrhoidectomy, a hemorrhoid operation, is extremely possible if you begin certain steps. Hemorrhoid operations are expensive, and it’s quite painful afterward. You can even have a recurrence of hemorrhoids, also known as piles.

Natural hemorrhoid treatment at home is the best and least expensive route to take. You will be avoiding chemicals, drugs, drug interaction and side effects.

Ranunculusficaria ointment may reduce the pain of your external hemorrhoids. Aromatherapy works well also. You can take a sitz bath for fifteen minutes throughout the day. Fill the tub with warm water and soak, or use an aromatherapy method and add 20 drops of lavender and 20 drops of juniper essential oils to very warm bath water and soak for ten minutes.

After your bath, and after bowel movements, you can put one drop of geranium essential oils and two drops of lavender blended with one ounce of carrier oil. Check your local health food stores for these oils.

A couple of natural methods that are used, not at home however, are acupuncture and acupressure. These methods can be expensive however. Be certain to drink a lot of water and eat foods full of fiber such as vegetables, fruit, whole grains and bran.

To reduce the inflammation and relieve the itching of external hemorrhoids, you can apply a mixture of ½ teaspoon of turmeric and 1 teaspoon of ghee, or clarified butter at bedtime for three nights in a row, then stop for two nights, resume for three nights and continue this method until the hemorrhoids are gone, per Vasant Lad, B.A.M.S., M.A.Sc., director of the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Wear a pad or old underwear you don’t mind ruining as the turmeric stains, and it will also stain your skin, but will wash off in a couple of weeks or so.
