Overcoming Drug Addiction?

Question by Brittney: overcoming drug addiction?
ok so i’m finally going to admit it.
i’m going to come out and say something that i’ve been lying to myself about since the moment i touched the stuff.. i’m addicted to meth.
my first time trying it i smoked it with my friend who was also new to it all.
it was amazing. i thought hmm this is fun, maybe i’ll do this with her sometimes.
wait no, i should do this with her everyday. it’s not so bad as people make it out to be, i feel great and we’ll lose so much weight!!!
HA little did i know i’d be losing much much more than just weight.
it IS as bad as people make it out to be. in fact, it’s worse.
i could have never imagined the next 7 months of my life looking the way it did
i began finding any excuse, any way to hang out with my friend because she was the one that would buy the stuff.. she had the connect
then it turned into me stealing her dealers number out of her phone so i could get my own
then l began hanging out with tweakers, finding my own connects
yet still, all that time i managed to say “oh yeah, i can stop whenever. i just don’t want to yet.”
i would buy a sac and not feel the need to use it until i was going to a party or hanging out with friends or something that i wanted the energy and rush for.
now it’s gotten to the point where i can’t sit in the same room with some meth without doing line after line until it is gone.
i don’t know where to go from here.
i know the obvious… i need to stop.
i know the obvious solution, get help.
and you all know the obvious, it’s not that easy.
is there anything i can do… some way to convince and assure myself that this MUST be done?
like, idk, i just keep telling myself it’s ok for now and i don’t know how to push myself over that line to actually delete my contacts, seperate myself from this lifestyle and get help

Quickly find a 12-step program (aA, nA, —A). get a sponsor/ Temp sponsor. and start WORKING the program. Take suggestions. uhhhh… Meeting everyday for first 90. 90 phone numbers/90-days. I would also read the promises, see what could happen if you stay clean and sober for lengths of time. REMBER relapse DOES NOT have to be part of YOUR story. If it is then that is fine too. Just keep coming back

I could keep going. you’ll be told all this if you got some good NA or AA wherever you are.

Thats what I was told to do. Thats what I did/ Doing.

You cant just wake up one day and go “oh today is the day im going to stop” it takes time esecially if you do it alot. These things take time. Just go day by day doing less and less everyday. If you do this eventually you wont feel the urge to keep doing it. Because youll spend your day doing other things, and youll start to realize there is more to life then doing it. This drug is powerfully addictive, and damaging to your body and brain. But Just take it day by day, find other things during the day that you like to do, other than that.
