Does Meditation Work for You?
Question by amaital: Does meditation work for you?
Ive been through ALOT in the past year and looking for some non chemical solution for my stress, anxiety, motivation. I did research on meditation and have been doing it since Friday. I feel calmer, less anxious, Ive been doing about 1 hour to 2 hours a day, simply because Im off work now. I also am weaning off a highly addictive drug, so considering that , I have to conclude it does work.
Can you share your experiences?
hat made you start?
How many minutes/hours/day you meditate?
How many days/weeks until you saw a profound change in your outlook on life and an inner sense of peace?
I’m open to anything…….except people who are gonna bash me. As my husband said “If it works for you, who am I to judge”
Thank You SOOOOOOOOO Much,
Amani
First off..THANK YOU ALL !!!
When I meditate I listen to isochronic tunes with headphones, when thoughts do enter my mind should i follow it or acknowledge it and push it away. EG. Today I was thinking about how I owe my Dr. 75 dollars while meditating, i pushed it away, if you kwim?

I love it. Don’t know how I ever lived without it.
I only sit that long every once in a while. When I was new to it I did that long more often because I went to a centerevery week and they had a long sitting. At home I usually just do 15 minutes or so, but it is all over the board. Everyday is different. I can’t say where that line was, when it began to make a difference, but I know that after a few months of doing it I sure noticed if I didn’t do it….Why did I start? Oh, you know, improving my conscious contact and all: which is a challenge for us who are/were agnostic, so I went to a zen center for quite sometime.

I was a victim of a violent crime and had post traumatic stress syndrome which caused me to have panic attacks.
I started meditating at the recommendation of my therapist as a way to destress while I dealt w/ my emotional issues. I was allergic to the meds they wanted to put me on and couldn’t take them. I continued it because it lowered my blood pressure & I could get off my blood pressure meds.
when I started I was meditating 1 to 2 hours a day. now I meditate for 30 minutes to an hour most days as a way of decompressing at the end of my day about an hour or two before going to bed.
it gives me clarity of mind and thought and I’m much calmer. BTW: the panic attacks became manageable and tapered off from almost daily to once or twice a year over a 3 year period. I’ve been meditating for 10 years and it’s been about 3 years since my last panic attack. before that last attack, it had been about 4 years between attacks.
something else I’m doing now that I wasn’t before: I’m more physically active as well and I have seen a lot of physical and emotional changes as well from being physically active.
