Before I Can Get an Adderall RX My Dr Wants Me to Take a Drug Screen?

Question by Iron Patriot: Before I can get an adderall RX my dr wants me to take a drug screen?
Is this just to make sure I’m not abusing adderall. I already take it, but I’m just switching Dr’s now. Will they also test for other substances like THC? Do they legally have to tell me what they are testing for?

He is testing for all drugs. He wants to make sure your problems (focus) are not bring caused by any other substance abuse. But, I am unsure if he has to tell you what chemicals they are testing for. Either way what he is doing is legal, and if you don’t like it you have the option of finding a new doctor or not getting the adderall script.

It’s probably just a standard four-panel drug screen to be sure you aren’t abusing other drugs: Pot, coke, opiates (like heroin and prescription painkillers) and amphetamines. Amphetamines you’ll test positive for since you’re already taking Adderall, but they want to know if someone they’re prescribing a Schedule II drug to uses or abuses other drugs. They don’t have to tell you what they’re testing for. You’ll find out soon enough. I think that what they’re mainly looking for is the prescription painkillers/opiates. They don’t want to prescribe Adderall to someone with an addiction problem.
