well, first it needs to start with the parents and i another thing i think that should be done is take these kids to the intensive care units or nursing homes where people are in a coma from drugs/alcohol

Prevention-I wish I knew.My 16 yr old daughter was a cheer leader,ran track,did very well in school. She is also a recovering heroin addict. Began using when she was 13 and has been clean for 1 year.I thought we were doing all the right things. We began talking about the dangers of drugs when all our children were in grade school.
I do know there needs to be more treatment centers to offer long term care. (she was in a treatment center for 8 months) The waiting lists for the available places are horrendous.We waited 4 months.And unfortunately for teens there is a very limited amount of treatment centers to begin with. There are only 2 in our state to treat females under 18. If you can afford out of pocket thousands of dollars a month then you have a few more options.Sometimes I feel like the government isn’t taking seriously what our children are going through,and I’m sure I am not the only one who feels that way.
