many factors, being born of a mother who exposes an unborn child to them, trying out them for fun and becoming addicted, but more often than not, when a person has problems at home or with life in general, many will often turn to drugs or alcohol as a coping mechanism, mostly because being drunk or high transports them to a ‘better’ place..but it is not better, life still carrys the same problems and stressload..many feel they have nowhere else to turn for support so they ‘self-medicate’…it is a terrible lifestyle, i have been there all to often..i hope this insight helps 🙂
