How Can Alcoholics Quit Drinking Cold Turkey?

Question by Mariposa Traicionera: How can alcoholics quit drinking cold turkey?
When I was tapering off of benzos I was told that withdrawal from only 2 substances can be fatal if not done correctly. Those substances were benzos and alcohol. So how can it be that alcoholics can quit alcohol cold turkey? It seems like it’s actually encouraged. Isn’t it dangerout to do that?

yeah, it’s dangerous to just quit “cold turkey.” the body is so used to those high doses of alcohol (or any drug that’s being abused) that it might go into shock, resulting in devastating or fatal consequences. so i don’t think it’s possible for someone to SAFELY quit cold turkey.

Drink the non alcholic beer for a while it will take the edge off.
